HOW TO CITE MAIZEGDB
Why cite MaizeGDB?
One of the ways we are able to demonstrate that MaizeGDB is a useful resource is by tracking references to MaizeGDB in the literature. If you wish to make reference to the project, placing a link within the paper (e.g., http://www.maizegdb.org) is not enough! Although we appreciate the inclusion of any reference to MaizeGDB in your publications, we cannot track these sorts of references. Instead, please use the following as a guide to citing MaizeGDB within your publications.
If you are seeking a general reference for MaizeGDB, we suggest one of the following:

In accordance with the Columbia Guide to Online Style (Columbia University Press) the basic format for citing electronic publications is:
Author's Last Name, First Initials. (Date) Title of Work. Title of Complete Work. [protocol and address] [path] (date of message or visit).
Specific Example: Citing the MaizeGDB Explanation of Nomenclature and Methods Used by the Cytogenetic Map of Maize Project
Amarillo, F., Koumbaris, G. & Bass, H.W. (2005) An Explanation of Nomenclature and Methods Used by the Cytogenetic Map of Maize Project. MaizeGDB. http://www.maizegdb.org/CMMprotocols.php (22 Jan. 2005).
