2010 Maize Genetics Conference Registration:

Registration Link:

2010 Maize Genetics Conference Registration Page

Deadlines:

Advance meeting registration is due by January 29, 2010.

We strongly encourage you to register in advance of the meeting as pre-registration allows us to compile a list of attendees with their affiliations, pre-print nametags, and give meal guarantees.

Students who will be requesting Financial Aid, please see “Student Financial Aid” below.

Registration:

Meeting registration is handled through the University of Missouri Conference Office. To register for the meeting, use the online registration link above by January 29, 2010.

Alternatively, you may print a registration form and mail or FAX it with your registration payment. The contacts are Angela Freemyer and Lindsay Mitchell; they can be reached by phone at 1-573-882-8320, via receptionist at 1-866-682-6663, by FAX at 1-573-882-1953, or by email at muconf4@missouri.edu.

Registration Fees:

Please note that conference registration fees for this year’s meeting will cover the cost of meals and breaks. (The exception is breakfast, which is included in the cost of lodging and served at the hotels). As a result, this year’s registration fees may initially strike you as higher than they have been in recent years, but for perspective, the increase is quite comparable to the ‘meals’ portion of the ‘lodging and meals conference package’ charged at the 2009 Maize Meeting at Pheasant Run Resort.

Registration fees are as follows:

Advance Registration (Academic and Industry participants) $550
Emeritus/Retired attendees $300
Student* (see below for clarification) $100
Registration after January 29, 2010 $650

The steering committee is currently exploring the best option(s) for spouses/traveling companions who may wish to purchase meals.

Student Registration/Financial Aid:

The application deadline will be January 29, 2010.

The steering committee is soliciting federal grants and industry donations to help defray meeting costs for graduate students and for those undergraduates who are the first and presenting author of a poster or talk. While we are striving to raise funds sufficient to cover as much of the registration fee as possible, and for as many students as possible, please be aware that we will not know precisely how much funding we can provide individual participants until shortly before the meeting.

* The $100 student payment presumes an approved subsidy of $450 per student, which will come from fundraising efforts by the steering committee. Fundraising in prior years has often been successful in providing an even higher subsidy. Thus, if fundraising efforts are very successful again this year, then all or part of the $100 payment may be refunded to the credit card used to pay for registration after the conference.

Rest assured that the steering committee has and continues to make extraordinary efforts to raise funds sufficient to make this meeting as affordable as possible for students -- especially given that airfare will be higher for those traveling from the US.

A small number of travel awards will also be considered for students and post-docs. Students are actively encouraged to explore travel awards within their program, college or university.

In the interest of broadening meeting participation, students who are from underrepresented groups, first-time attendees or from smaller academic institutions are particularly encouraged to apply.

If you have concerns about student financial aid, please do not hesitate to contact the conference chair, Jane Dorweiler, at jane.dorweiler@marquette.edu.

You may apply for financial aid and register on the same form, OR you may register online at the link above AND complete the top portion of the form to request financial aid. For security reasons, it is not recommended that you e-mail your credit card information.

Student Registration & Financial Aid Application

NO applications for student support received after January 29, 2010 will be considered. Please act promptly to assure that your application is received before this deadline.

Future Maize Meeting Announcements:
