2018 Maize Genetics Conference Registration:

Details on conference registration are not yet finalized. This page will be updated as new information becomes available, and once all of the details have been finalized an announcement will be posted at MaizeGDB.

How To Register:

To attend the meeting, you will need to register and pay the registration fee. The registration fee includes meals, abstract books, everyone's share of the meeting and poster room rental costs along with all the audio-visual and poster equipment, and other conference fees. The hotel reservation cost only covers lodging. The cost per person for the conference pass will be $550 for regular attendees (see full fee schedule below). All attendees are responsible for booking and paying for their hotel rooms. Room rates vary and can be booked online at http://www.pgl-congres.com/en/. Please make roommate arrangements before you reserve your hotel room and make the reservation with both guest names.

There are four steps to complete the registration process for the 2018 meeting:

Step 1Registration Follow the registration instructions on this page. Registration includes meals, abstract books, and some of the other meeting costs.
Step 2Hotel Reservation To make reservations for the conference hotel follow the Hotel instructions on this page.
Step 3Abstract submission To submit a talk or poster abstract follow the instructions on this page. You must be registered for the conference to submit an abstract.
Step 4Financial Aid Please read about the eligibility requirements before applying for the award.

Step 1
Registration Package:

Deadlines:

Early registration is due by January 19, 2018 and the last day to register for the conference is March 12, 2018. All dates/deadlines will be calculated in U.S. Central Standard Time.

Pre-registration is required as it allows us to compile a list of attendees with their affiliations, pre-print nametags, and give meal guarantees. Onsite registrations will not be accepted.

Alternatively, you may download a registration form (once registration opens) and mail or FAX it with your registration payment. Note that we cannot accept credit cards via email.

Cancellations made by Jan. 19, 2018 U.S. CST will receive a full refund. After Jan. 19, 2018, a $50 processing fee will be withheld and there will be no refunds after Feb. 16, 2018.

Graduate and Undergraduate Students must cancel by Feb. 16, 2018 in order to receive a full refund and cancel by March 6, 2018 to receive a partial refund.

Information for all participants:

For security purposes, each person attending the conference will need to print a copy of their registration confirmation to present to the security guard to gain entrance to the Palais du Grand Large convention center.

Meals at the meeting will be plated so if you have dietary allergies or restrictions, such as vegetarian, then please enter this information in the online registration system. The caterer is bringing food to the convention center so will not be able to make onsite changes.

International attendees:

Travelers from other EU countries can enter France without visa. This also true for stays below 90 days for a number of countries including USA, Canada, Israel, Taiwan, etc. However, most visitors from outside the EU must arrange a non-immigrant visitor's visa in advance, usually from a French consulate or embassy in your home country. Please determine specific requirements for your country. Relevant information may be found at French Foreign Office government web site: http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/getting-a-visa/. Information for US citizens traveling to France may be found at the State department's travel website: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/france.html.

International attendees who require letters of invitation to facilitate visa processing may contact the meeting Chair: Alain Charcosset.

*Student Attendees:

This year there is no student financial aid to cover lodging, but the student registration rate is discounted at $100.

Step 2
Hotel Reservation:

Please read the following instructions before you reserve your hotel room:
  1. All attendees are responsible for booking and paying for their hotel rooms. Before proceeding to the reservation link, please make roommate arrangements if you plan to share a room. The meeting site does not have a fixed process to handle room sharing, the participant should find a roommate (Need help finding a roommate), and discuss the payment with each other. Please find a roommate in advance and make the reservation with both guest names.
  2. Booking your room is free of charge, there is no prepayment required. However rooms have been pre-booked until February 20th. After this date we can no longer promise that you will be able to find a room in town, although this time of year is a low season for tourism. Guests must pay for the room charge at check-out.
  3. Cancellation policy varies from one hotel to the other. Please check the website or contact the hotels directly.
  4. Hotel rooms in France are generally quite small. If you select either a double, triple, or quad occupancy for the hotel room then you may need to share a bed.

Step 3
Abstract Submission:

All abstracts must be submitted electronically by January 19, 2018. Use the link below to begin the process of submitting your abstract. Please indicate on the abstract form whether you wish to present a talk or a poster. Abstracts are limited to 300 words. Time constraints on the meeting may mean that some authors who request oral presentations will be asked to present their data in poster format instead. Abstracts should be submitted under one of the seven research topic categories listed on this abstract submission page and meeting website, based on which the submitter believes is most appropriate. Session topics will be determined (by the MGCSC) based on the abstracts selected for talks, but will likely be similar to the listed categories.

Financial Aid:

There are two types of financial aid for the 60th Annual Maize Genetics Conference:

MaGNET Awards:

The MaGNET Awards program will provide competitive support for attendance at the Conference, for members of underrepresented groups, as well as for faculty mentors accompanying eligible students.

Student Registration/Financial Aid:

The application deadline will be January 19, 2018.

The steering committee is soliciting federal grants and industry donations to help defray meeting costs for graduate students and for those undergraduates who are the first and presenting author of a poster or talk.

Students are actively encouraged to apply for travel awards within their graduate program, college or university. If you have concerns about student financial aid or need information to assist in any local grant application, please do not hesitate to contact the conference chair, Alain Charcosset, at alain.charcosset@inra.fr.

NO applications for student support received after January 19, 2018 will be considered. Please act promptly to assure that your application is received before this deadline.
